Content: The Journal of Business Compliance (BUCO) is a results oriented publication, edited and written by professionals, for professionals and all those whose efforts are dedicated to the promotion of business integrity, culture, ethics and conduct. The first issue of the BUCO was launched on 2 November 2012 and is now inviting and welcoming the submissions of articles from those who wish to exercise a voice, and influence the debate and actions towards this objective. With all too frequent media reports of incidents resulting from inadequate compliance culture, a lack of appropriate ethics in business practices or deficiencies in professional, fit for purpose governance,there is a real need for improvements in the understanding of drivers and strategies to further the agenda of integrity and ethics in business. Board members, executives, compliance professionals, regulators and other thought leaders are all in need of shared experiences and knowledge, benchmarks and inspiration for the promotion of improved behaviour and controls if we are to successfully temper the risks of damage to client trust, brands and reputations resulting from thoughtlessness, unsocial behaviour or criminal misconduct. BUCO aims to be a source to help satisfy those needs. Purpose and Scope The Journal of Business Compliance is a Baltzer Science Publishers initiative intended to raise the debate amongst Compliance and Regulatory professionals in Europe, for the benefit of compliance circles themselves, but also to invite participation and effective interest of directors and management, politicians and related professions such as Law and Audit, and not least to raise awareness and consciousness amongst aspiring business professionals. The aim of the Journal is to provide factual information regarding all aspects of ethical business conduct across finance, manufacturing and services, to inform policy makers of the impact and effectiveness of regulatory change, and inspire business leaders seeking to ensure compliant behaviour in their firms. Six issues are planned per year. Topics will typically concern areas related to business conduct, organisational behaviour, communications, regulatory objectives, the effective compliance function and governance amongst others. Article Structure and Content The length, nature and structure of submissions are flexible. Articles will normally range between 300 and 2,000 words and should be forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief: anthony@smithmeyer.eu We sincerely hope that you will consider our invitation to join our efforts to promote the integrity and ethics agenda and thank you in advance for your efforts.
